WHAT???

Am I really the mom of an 18 month old?

Yesterday, our sweet "little" "baby" turned 18 months old. As a mom I am struggling with this because I know there is no way to slow him or life down. I vividly remember the day he entered the world. I remember thinking how little I thought he was. However the scale disagreed with me at 9lbs 1oz and 21 inches long.

I remember my Mom always telling me that no matter how old or big I got that I would always be her baby. Now that I am a mom this is just so true. I sweep Collin up multiple times a day just to give him a kiss and to try to take in this little person before I can no longer pick him up (I know that day will be here before I know it. Just don't want to think about it now.)

So what does 18 months old mean in Collin world?

(We were at the doctor for his check up yesterday)

~He weighs 32.2lbs
34 inches long (Yes, he is two inches away from being 3ft. tall. Oh My!)

~He can say about 50 words now. (Dr. H was so impressed with this as most kids his age say 7-20)

~We now walk together in small stores instead of always breaking out the stroller (you will see in the picture below, this isn't always a good idea)

~He can recognize something in a book and apply it to "real life". For example, he has known his yellow ducks from his Brown Bear book & he will point out real ducks when we are outside. Which I find funny because real ducks aren't yellow, but some how he knows.

~He is very engaging with strangers (don't know if this is good or bad). He has started flirting and trying to grab attention everywhere we go.

~He will tell everyone Hi & Bye Bye

~He no longer walks he RUNS EVERYWHERE!!

~HE LOVES being outdoors & putting rocks into their home (he just throws them back into our landscaping)

~He will tell me when he does #2 & sometimes #1 in his diaper. (this may not be exciting for you but for us it means potty training is very close! yeaaaa)

~Collin LOVES LOVES LOVES music.
Beyonce's "All the single ladies" is his favorite song. He will hear it on the radio and start singing Oh Oh Oh, Oh Oh.

He has so many new "tricks" he does. I just don't want to bore you with my motherly bragging.

Everyday is a new adventure with our toddler. We find ourselves always trying to stay one step ahead of him (I didn't know how challenging this would be!)
This picture demonstrates this. I took him into Borders yesterday to pick out a new book for his special day. Well, he though it was a great place to play "let Mommy chase me".

On a side note... I there is a blog that I follow on a regular basis called http://www.mycharmingkids.net/ Those of you who know me know that i do not do this very often, but I ask that you go to this blog and read what this family is going through this week. They have a baby, Stellan who is in the PICU as we speak with a very serious heart condition. I just ask that you pray, and send this sweet sweet baby as many good thoughts as you can. He is in need of them right now. You can also click on his picture on the right side of my blog and that will take you to their side as well. Thank you!
